here are some examples of "low contrast" in nature!
look at these two pictures of the grand canyon. the one on the left has mostly low contrast...due to all the grays. the one to the right offers more contrast allowing us to see more things!
We will create a thanksgiving scene with high contrast! the bright colors of the sky are contrasted with the land in silhouette
"silhouette" occurs when the light source is on one side...say the left...an object is in the middle, and we the viewer are on the other side...to the right.
in the example to the right, imagine the sun to the left, the parachutes in the middle and you are viewing this from the right
