"We will create a scene using crayons and water color paint" this is called "crayon resist"
1. think of a setting for your artwork 2. Draw in the items with your pencil 3. color in items like fish, buildings, etc. with crayon press hard with the crayon ...putting down a lot of wax 4. go over the entire work with water color paint......the crayon parts will "resist" the watercolor per below example
you need at least 8 different items in crayon to get the two points for your creativity grade below. But, if you add many zones to one item like the fish below in the middle, you can get the 8 items that way.
you must then add a few other items to make your setting interesting.....a couple of other fish and the seaweed work well
the more wax you color your items in with, the more vibrant your finished work will be once you lay down the watercolor paint
The idea of using buildings is a good one, but this student did not get all of their creativity points: there are only ....buildings, birds and the sun {just 3 things!} what else could have been added??
don't make the same mistake this student made..........he didn't color "hard enough" and so after his water color wash....the crayon doesn't look too bright, does it?
here is your rubric..........you need 8 different items to get 2 points under the creativity category. 5 items to get 1 point
