Look at the art work to the left. What shapes did our lines make here? Can you find circles, triangles, and squares? do you see any free forms here? these shapes are called geometric, and you will study them in math class
lines can come together to make either geometric or free form shapes
we will work with free forms and geometric shapes in this lesson. look at these two pictures! Where are the free form shapes? Where are the geometric shapes? can you make an autumn scene like this that will have at least one free form and one geometric shape?
be creative as you begin your artwork. You need to have a tree with leaves showing autumn...that can be considered a free form! what geometric shapes can you come up with that are different?
Trees have many branches that offer shade! think about how many 3rd graders might be able to fit under one tree and have shade?
point is ....make your branches stretch out...like you see here, and remember...you need to add many many small colorful leaves!!
important!!! since we can actually "touch" the leaves and the tree...we are exploring texture...or how something feels.
