We must also have a "horizon line!" This separates what is on the ground from the sky. without the horizon line....items wouldlook like they are floating in space!
In the picture below, notice how much detail is seen on the two trees in the foreground. they are in the foreground because they are located at the bottom of the picture! Notice that there are trees in the mid Ground, and seem to come out of the ground in the middle of the artwork. The background can be found last in the back
look at the picture below. the cow is closest to us and is in the foreground. in the mid ground we see the hills which appear smaller than the cow. And then look past the hills! The details aren't as clear. That might be part water and part land that then "connects" to the sky at .....the horizon line!
We will practice using foreground, mid ground & background in a st. patrick's day setting! we will show a large leprechaun who will appear near to us, and a smaller leprechaun who will appear to be farther away!
