tHERE IS A HOLIDAY IN MEXICO CALLED "DAY OF THE DEAD" CAN ANYONE TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DAY?
this is a day to remember loved ones. families make sculptures to party with loved ones no longer here!
many people decorate skulls. some bakeries make pastry in the shape of skulls that people can eat!
we will connect with this culture by designing our own skull to remember "day of the dead" and also Halloween
look at the skull with the design to the right. what can you tell us about the design?
when I tell you that it is symmetrical, what does that mean?
here is how we will create our skull! use markers to color!
everyone will start with a blank skull to color
....by the way...what is the name of the line.....which comes together here to make a free form shape here???
if you said "contour line" give yourself a pat on the back!!
here are some finished examples from the past {how appropriate!} of student work. Notice the use of symmetry here....{same on both sides} don't forget to use a ruler to make nice straight lines!
