We will explore foreground, mid ground & background in this lesson
items appear closest to you ......are large and are known as the foreground! these items are found at the bottom of the page!
items that are a little smaller, are known as being in the mid {middle ground} these items are found in the middle of the paper
Items that appear farthest away....think mountains, sky, sun, moon, etc. are called the background
these items are always found at the top of the paper.
note: as you look at the photo above, you might be thinking
"The mountain looks so much bigger than the house" and you would be right. But, mountains are indeed much bigger than houses!! But, since it appears in the middle of the photo here, it is part of the middle ground!
look at where lake michigan is in these photos.........would you say that it is in the fore, middle or background?
In this photo, the lake and boat to the right are in the foreground, the boat looks very large.
navy pier is in the middle.......notice how the boats in the middle are keep getting smaller?
and then the skyscrapers are in the background. Yes they are very large, but look at the windows in those buildings, they look very small compared to the windows on the boat in the foreground
step 1. Lay out your ideas on a paper {sloppy copy} once we know your fore, mid and background items....then you move to the final copy
