Here is an example of what you could do with "fat" to illustrate the word
in the example above.......if you were to use a similar idea......you would have a bakery setting..........what other "fat" things could you put in the back ground???
.....maybe a fat person or animal sitting next to this item getting ready to eat it? you should develop the background........maybe there is a window that says bakery in fat letters........next to a real fat door???
you might have explored this concept in your literature class? it is called.... Onomatopoeia
we will explore the use of line to generate some expressive words!
here are some student examples, followed by some other ideas
Note that ....the letters themselves ....become the word. did you notice the nice back ground that is fitting for this scene?
there are 2 parts to this project: 1st - the word to be illustrated 2nd - the background
the student artist above came up with a great way to illustrate music and was still thinking about what the background should be.
the student who did "fruit" below........needed to add more to his background.......what are a few things he could add in the field in the background......just below the sun??
This student did a great job of taking the word ...broken....and showing broken letters!! But I pointed out that just by putting some zig zags in the background.......is not enough!!
this was just the sloppy copy!!! I suggested that she eliminate the zig zag lines in the background, and maybe add something like a house with broken windows, maybe a broken chimney? she should then complete the background with a street, and maybe other houses?
here are some other ideas! you must design a neatly colored background like the student samples, too.
The ideas you see below..........show the main word that is illustrated............note that the backgrounds are not developed yet? They are here to give you some ideas as to what sort of words can be illustrated
The monster scene ......could maybe have a haunted house and or graveyard behind it.
we will generate a scene where a word sits in an appropriate setting
here are some examples for you to think about
but make sure your main item stands out...... and is in an appropriate setting
use a verb to illustrate an action word!
check out the rubric!! you must have at least 5 objects in the background to get 2 points in the "creative category"
