In this lesson we will learn about using the concept of balance where your design seems to "radiate out" from the center
Have you ever used a KALEIDOSCOPE? there is a pattern in one zone and mirrors all around This makes for what looks like a design that is symmetrical and circular they are pleasing to the eye!
here is the entire design from above
here is the rubric for this project. you need at least 7 "items" 2 get 2 points for creativity.
make a nice circle, and divide it into 4 zones you are just going to make a design in the top left zone
the rubric says that you need 7 items drawn in the top left zone. was this student example done neatly? why not??
here are some nice finished examples....
the design below is a nice one......but the student lost points in craftsmanship.......for not coloring in one direction in some places
you should come up with a pleasing design, and do that design in one quarter of your sheet of paper. You will then rotate your design to fill in the exact same design in each of the 3 other quarters..
Step 1: place a sheet of tracing paper over your design and trace it on. if using marker, be careful, it can smear on the tracing paper!
see below, notice how you can "see through" this paper?
step 2: put the tracing paper over your design, and trace it on to the tracing paper above here the paper was moved away showing the design is now on it.
step 3: rotate your paper so that you can copy the design in another quarter of the tracing paper. line things up between the two zones!
step 4 and on: Now rotate the paper again, and trace your design on the third zone, and then rotate your paper and trace your design on the last quarter of the paper!!
as you can see above, the design has been now traced onto half of the tracing paper!
