In this lesson, we will learn about using texture & depth together
Texture {known as tactile texture......is something that you can touch...is not flat depth......is the distance going forward or backward from where you are. in art, we create the illusion that one could "walk into the scene"
lets first look at texture how are these trees and example of tactile TEXTURE?
you would be correct if you said that the trunk was made of rolled up paper, and that bits and pieces of colored paper was used to make the leaves
We will use the trees made out of paper and place them in the foreground of our work. There will be something in the background that our tree overlaps
when doing a project like this, "we must" start with the items that are farthest away and will be partially covered up by our tree
step 1.......create a horizon line, and add something... buildings
step 2........lets give our buildings some details...like windows in this example, we also added a small sailboat to the right
step 3........after adding windows, we shade in the buildings
step 4...........we now add "grass & a hill" in the foreground
step 5............on a brown piece of paper......we need to draw out and then cut out the trunk and branches from our tree
step 6..........we now "tear" bits of yellow, orange, green & red paper.......and glue them onto the tree, and ground.
a large sailboat was also added to the forground
Be careful to try not to cover most of the windows in your background buildings
step 7................brainstorm time! a. what is in your background? b. what will be in your foreground?
