working with surrealism....aka....fantasy - Salvadore Dali
it is night. you are sleeping and start to dream. The "world" becomes a bit strange.......as dreams are prone to do
things make no sense.......they are unrealistic......they come from your UNCONSCIOUS mind, which mixes known with the unknown while you sleep to .........tell a story. It is fantasy playing out in your head as if watching a movie.
it might be a pleasant experience. it might be a nightmare!
We will create a dreamlike setting, and add surrealistic figures to an unrealistic setting.....in the style of Salavadore Dali
lets explore some of dali's art. can you see how these "scenes" could be generated right out of a dream?
here is a cute little parody i found online
How about adding greek mythological creatures to make your "dream" more interesting??
here are some student examples
how to proceed
1. you can........... look at images on google look at tracers I have in the different boxes look at examples by salvadore dali
2 think about how you can create new creatures {example half dolphin/ half GORILLA, half lady bug/ half elephant.........or ..... a half house/ half car wash!
Also, you can add dreamlike items! how about a boat that has a sail that is made out of birds flapping their wings. Maybe a car on the ground that has an elephant as it's engine!!
3 work on developing as many creatures or items as possible for your setting. think about creating unrealistic structures for your background.
4. for your rubric, you need to have 8 different items to get the two points for creativity, or at least 5 to get one point!
here is the rubric ...at a glance! Make sure you use circle templates for nice circles, too!!
