in 6th grade art, you learned about "perspective" in a lesson called {fore, mid and background} you learned how to create depth ......by putting the largest items at the bottom of your paper, {foreground} and the smallest at the top {background}
Look at the lights in this photograph....the lights that are closest to you look the largest!! {we know that they are really all the same size!}
This night time scene taken on State Street in downtown Chicago in 1923, perfectly illustrates how one point perspective works. The street lights and street car lines in the street all seem to "meet" at some point way off in the distance.
