here are some student examples using "emphasis" why do you think that I printed the word emphasis in red?
....as you look at these examples, can you guess what is being "emphasized?" How might these images be part of a story?
look at this artwork? what is being emphasized?
If you said the star that isn't yellow, you are right!! now, what could this story be about? maybe the pink star with the pattern on his pants is looking for a friend?
Do you agree with me that the red apple is being emphasized?
maybe that apple or the worms inside it have special powers??
....do you also notice that this artwork looks good to view? it was colored neatly within the lines....coloring in one direction!!
Did you guess that the "fire" was being emphasized here?
do y0u agree with me, that there is something about the one star that isn't brown? yes, he is the one being emphasized!
i wonder what is so special about that rose in the 3rd pot??
if this artwork was part of a story, I'm guessing that it would be about the flower to the right? do you agree?
a story about two little ducks? do you agree with me that if this was part of a story....it would be about the yellow one? that is the one being emphasized!
this time, we look towards the middle flower. Sometimes it isn't easy to tell what is being emphasized. Therefore, look for the lightest thing among dark items, or the darkest thing among light items!!
Here is a perfect example of how a light colored item is being emphasized because all of the other flowers are the same color! our story would have to something to do with that 2nd flower to the left!
