Imagine a world where you are suddenly very large, as large as the tallest building in chicago! Or, maybe you "shrunk" now you are so tiny, that you are smaller than a mouse!
We call this type of fantasy "unrealistic scale"
lets watch a video to see what it might be like if somehow you were shrunken in size tomorrow
we could say that these kids are "not in proportion to their setting" first, we must understand what proportion is... our world is built around proportion. think about the size of the chair you sit in? is it the same size or bigger than a chair that someone in kindergarten would sit in?
Story board artist david lowery was one of many artists who worked on doing the artwork for the movie "honey I shrunk the kids" and also for "Jurassic park" here is some of his story board work for jurassic park
Sorry for the blurry picture...but it shows a clever use of pictures cut out from a magazine to show distortion! Notice how the picture of the baby placed next to the car makes the baby look very big?
HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF USING {UNREALISTIC scale}
wE WILL generate A SETTING WHERE ITEMS IN UNREALISTIC SCALE WILL BE INCORPORATED
SOME EXAMPLES out in the world
student examples
here is a great example of unrealistic scale using the tracers in the artroom
first, the student looked at various tracers until he found the ones he wanted to use
2. after finding the tracers he wanted, he traced what he wanted onto a sheet of paper please try to put all of the images you want on one piece of paper. put your name on that paper!!
3. generate a sloppy copy of where the items will go!
4. once you know where the items will go, you may proceed on to do your tracings on the ..........final copy paper. When finished, don't forget to color neatly!
