welcome to art class........where your imagination comes to life!
Whether you like art or not........I hope that you find this class fun and relaxing. don't worry if you feel like you can't draw or do art. This class is not about that........it is about learning some art concepts.....that might help you for .......the rest of your life
part of your grade is based on craftsmanship......that means ...."how neatly done was your artwork?" the scene on the left is how I see a lot of art work......coloring in many directions....it makes your artwork look like it was done by a younger person
to color neatly, please color in one direction.....it doesn't have to be left and right {horizontal} but once you pick a direction, in one part....stay with the same motion. also, please use a ruler for straight lines ..........on final artwork {see the difference below}
Look at these two works ...same scene ........but colored diferentley
doesn't it look like the work on the left was done by someone younger that the one on the right?
some people only color the top of their paper blue for the sky, and green for grass or black for a road......for the ground they leave the middle of the paper white.....that is wrong. The sky always comes down to the ground if there are no buildings in the way..........use a darker blue for water or windows for the sky
the work of art on the left was done by a new cms student a few years ago...........I redid it by ......coloring neatly in one direction........it isn't hard to make nice works of art........if you remember to color neatly
The art process: 1. learn about the new lesson note the examples provided from previous students
2. brainstorm! use your chromebook to think of ideas
3. sketch out your ideas on a "sloppy copy" sheet of paper....computer printer paper.
4. move on to the "final copy" this should be on a nice sheet of computer paper.
5. check the rubric before you submit your artwork!!
1. how to color {large areas should be done in crayon {markers and colored pencils should be used for small areas or outlining only!!!}
"what do I do when I am finished?" you have the following options!
1. you may "free draw" {google something?} 2. work with a "how to draw" tutorial on youtube 3. on your chromebook: artsology.com 4. on your chromebook: quick draw.com 5 finish up homework from another class 6. read a book of your choice 7. play a cool math game on your chromebook
When you are done, check out all of the art related games at
https://artsology.com/
you will be grade by use of a .........rubric......for each lesson
an example of a rubric
important...........above you saw that it listed in the top category .....6 items to get two points, 4 items to get 1 point they must be 6 different items........in other words, you might have 6 trees in your work...........trees count as one!!
6 items might be.........a tree, a building, a person, a fence, a sun, and a cloud Also, the items you create should be large enough for me to be able to see them easily when you turn in your artwork in to google classroom for a grade
