Artists have been working with "forms" since the beginning of time............here are some recent examples...of clay figures
We will generate a form out of clay. here are some ideas for you to ponder? as you look at these examples, you need to think about a character that you would like to create.
your 'homework' will be to go on the internet and get a copy of your character. you will need to bring your sheet with your character to class to use as a model
We will create a detailed 3 -Dimensional form out of clay!
...as you watch this video, think about a character that you would like to sculpt. You must then go onto the internet and get a copy of that image to work with!!!!!!!
our first step will be to work with the clay, add water and get a feel for shaping it. We will use brayers and detailing tools. Here are some students at work....experimenting with the clay after first receiving it.
IN THE FALL OF 2014, 7TH GRADERS FIRST BROUGHT THE CLAY TO LIFE! THE PROCESS BEGINS WITH ADDING WATER TO THE CLAY AS SEEN IN THE VIDEO. THE KEY TO WORKING SUCCESSFULLY IS TO ADD ENOUGH WATER TO "SMOOTH AWAY" ALL OF THE LINES THAT OCCUR WHEN ONE ADDS LAYERS. THIS CREATES ONE SMOOTH FIGURE
TAKE PRIDE IN WHAT YOU DO! EVEN SOMETHING LIKE A JACK O LANTERN.......COMES TO LIFE WHEN DONE PROPERLY.
THE NEXT STEP IS TO LET THE CLAY DRY OUT SO THAT IT CAN BE PAINTED!
I would stay away from adding thin items like this as they tend to quickly break off
here are some great ideas to help inspire you!!
during the the 4th quarter of 2015, brooklyn hohman introduced a different way to make a figurine......use some paper clips!!!
the figure is formed around the clips!!!! ingenious!!
meet the "SOFTBALL BATTER"
{note...the bat has not yet been put in place, and will painted shortly}
What's wrong here?? Student just used sharpie to draw on features! You must make them 3D.......have shape to details. when you draw with a sharpie........it is just 2D
